Wedding Poem Appreciation

It’s in times like these that I feel so blessed to be able to have my writing skills with which to create something personally special and to be able to gift my words to others.

I was truly blessed to attend a wedding here last weekend. The couple that got married are two lovely people from my area, and I could not be more happy for them. As two humans who are not chronologically young (just beautifully young in their own minds), how lucky are they to have found each other at this later stage in life?

Each with established lives, including homes and material things, they did not want, nor need, (and asked us not to) bring any material wedding gifts. I know one half of the couple well, as I see him regularly in a couple of my card groups. Other than a monetary or a charity-type donation gift, I would not even begin to really know what to give them. So, I did what I do best, I wrote them a personalized wedding poem.

A greeting that comes from my heart, one that I took the time to write and then frame in a lovely gold edged frame for them, to me, was much more of a personal gift than any other gift I could have attempted to purchase.

It’s in times like these that I feel so blessed to be able to have my writing skills with which to create something personally special and to be able to gift my words to others. The poems I have written for family and friends for this occasion or that, are one of the greatest joys of being able to write. The happiness I can share through my words, and the appreciated 'thank you's' I receive for my efforts, are truly one of the most valuable and rewarding aspects of being a writer.

Last evening, as I was given a verbal thank you and a wonderful from my smile from my friend, kindly enhanced with positive words in his opinion of my writing attributes. He also inquired about what other types of things I write and how many books I have available. These are the moments, the most beautiful and rewarding moments of being in this field. When I can write something special for someone and they are genuinely pleased and grateful, (and sometimes further interested in my work), I feel truly blessed to believably call myself ‘a writer’.

Congratulations again to the happy couple! I am delighted to have been invited to your lovely wedding and included in your celebration! I am so happy I was able to give you something special, through my words, as a personal gift and keepsake as you start in this new chapter of your lives.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to share the words I wrote for my friends here in case someone else would like to enjoy or share it...(please note that on my photograph of the gifted poem I have removed the couples’ names and some other personal details, including the date of the wedding for their privacy…)

Yes! Being a writer...it is a good thing...

Cheers! Lise
