I Have Mermaid Fever!
Every day I feel like I'm experiencing a wonderful dose of mermaid fever. Every day I'm living within the story of my character, Leah, and every day I think about the mermaids out there in our world,..

I am salivating wanting to go and see Disney's new movie release of May 2023, The Little Mermaid, starring Haile Berry. However, I have made a pact to myself to not see it until my book, Tropical Transformation, is published. There are a couple of reasons for this, one being that I don't want any movie influences to alter the book that I have already written. I don't want to see Disney's ideas and scenery, and other elements of the movie to affect how I have written my adult fantasy romance novel. My story is about a woman who is on a journey of self-discovery in Hawaii, ultimately finding out that she is actually a hybrid, that is, a human who has the ability to transform into a mermaid.
As many of you know, this novel has been written for almost a year. I just had to step back from it for a while, one, because of other projects, and also, because I like to let my stories simmer with me until I am ready to do the final edits before my work is published. Right now I have been editing my book every day for several weeks. I'm currently down to the last few pages. Whahoo... I am so excited to prepare it soon for publishing.
Every day I feel like I'm experiencing a wonderful dose of mermaid fever. Every day I'm living within the story of my character, Leah, and every day I think about the mermaids out there in our world, the human women and men (and youngsters), who identify and adore these magical creatures of fairy tales and folklore...and there are a whole lot of us, I have discovered!
Worldwide there is a huge mermaid culture, including in places like Hawaii, the location I chose for my upcoming fantasy romance novel to be set in. It has been an incredible experience to learn as much as I could as I researched information for my book to make my story readable and believable when it came to the existence of mermaids. At the same time I was reawakening my love for Hawaii and the culture and lifestyle and beauty found there.
I know that I have written a story in Tropical Transformation, that has all the elements of believability, plus the romance and adventure my readers will enjoy. Truly, my upcoming book is a sweet 'beach read'.
coming soon...
Every day I wear the moonstone ring that my mother passed to me before she left my world, and it is the very talisman my protagonist wears in my story. That is one of the things I love the most about being a writer, I can incorporate little bits and pieces of my own life, or my own world, having the freedom of weaving them into the story that I am creating.
I thank you, dear readers, for your patience, as you have waited for my new novel. It has been a delight to write this one, especially since I was still in a mermaid frame of mind, after I had previously published my youth, fantasy, novella, Love, Magic & Mermaids. That project was a particular labour of love because it was written for two young ladies I knew, and because I digitally illustrated the book myself. After that release for the young lovers of mermaid tales, I felt the call to write a novel for the adult mermaid lovers living today. Add a bit of romance and some spice to an adventure involving self-discovery in a beautiful place like Hawaii and Tropical Transformation was born…
So be patient just a little longer, dear readers, for my new novel, Tropical Transformation, is coming out in the near future...
Cheers! Lise
