Taking The Time To Heal
I'd like to share today a poem I wrote from Your Power To Heal Is Real, an eBook available on Amazon. It is the season of sniffles and coughing and I got smacked with a dilly this past month. My book has really helped me through this bug, and I would kindly offer a suggestion for you to check it out if you are in need of healing support. Enjoy...

Sometimes You Just Have To Wait
Sometimes in your healing,
You just have to wait,
Things take time to knit and mend,
So be patient for healing’s sake.
You can’t rush the healing process,
Or be healed in the blink of an eye,
And so, you must be patient and kind with yourself,
As you mend your wings to fly.
Just because you are laid up,
And have to stay home and rest,
Does not mean you can’t do anything,
To assist your healing to be at its best.
There are certainly a plethora of things,
That you can choose to do,
Things that nurture you and help with the healing,
Things that give care and support to you.
Sometimes you are blessed to have another human,
Who can assist you along the way,
Help you do things as you take the time to heal,
Help you along by your side day by day.
And most of us do have someone,
Who can lend us a partial helping hand,
We just have to call or reach out,
To call in a family member or a good friend.
But often, the reality is that we’re solo,
We have to do what we can for ourselves,
Spending those waking moments as we heal,
Patiently applying self-care and help.
This would certainly be the time,
To not worry about the simple stuff,
Like if your home is spotlessly clean,
Let it just be good enough.
Don’t worry if you are not looking fabulous,
(Unless that really is your thing),
You’ve got bigger things to consider,
Your healing focus, is the priority you bring.
Without knowing your limitations,
Or knowing what it is you need to heal,
I suggest you assess also what makes you happy,
Or what you can do to help self-fulfill.
Can you draw yourself a warm bath and crawl in?
Can you curl up in bed to read a good book?
Can you put on some relaxing music and chill?
Or spruce yourself up with a fresh, clean look?
Will you be inspired to learn something new?
As you are laid up and staying at home?
A new language, or new recipe, or some new interest?
Or reconnect with an old friend on the phone?
Understand you sometimes have to wait,
As you take the all-important time to heal,
And so be kind, be self-nurturing, and proactive,
Finding something that improves how you feel.

In conclusion, I'd like to thank you all for your patience while I have taken some time and not put up any posts on my healing break. I needed time to roll back from my everyday routines and life to nurture and take care of myself. Usually, in those tough times I spend my time writing, using my writing as therapy as I deal with whatever tough stuff has come my way. This time, I was dealing with a nasty healing crisis by reading, using quiet meditation and saying affirmations. And, once again, I am so grateful for my own gift, my eBook, Your Power To Heal Is Real.
Being able to read my this book, to see and feel my words, and see all the beautiful accompanying photos has helped me, one again, to navigate through an illness.
I'm no "spring chicken" and it is sometimes harder to navigate through and recover from any illness. Even my time with special friends and loved ones was cut out because I isolated for some time so as to not share this bug with anyone else. In my considerations, I was left without much needed hugs and in-person support and love, but it is what it is. I was trying to be kind and responsible, even if it meant a lack of in-person love and energy. I missed two very important life events while I was sick, but I felt staying home was a kinder and more responsible decision.
Gratefully, I remained in my beautiful little home, with its outstanding views looking out into nature as I recovered. I, at least, was blessed with Mother Nature's gifts just outside my windows and door.
Your Power To Heal Is Real, has been an invaluable tool in my arsenal of healing tools over the course of several medical blips in my life in the past few years. It was incredibly helpful me after the catastrophic injury with the surgeries and multiple hospital stays. There were so many horrific moments of fear and pain and uncertainty that I was experiencing, some issues would even have life-changing outcomes. My book has also been helpful for times of illness, like when I had COVID, (I have had it twice now), and with other minor illnesses, and a few small bumps and bruises. Having a resource to reach for has been amazingly helpful, and, together with my recorded affirmations and meditations, many of which are from the book, I am able to weather these tough times with a helpful and resourceful tool.
Naturally, my written words are there as a support system, and, as a proactive and positive healing aid, but I would be delusional and irresponsible if I wrote this book and told you to expect it to be a cure for a serious or terminal illness. What this book can do is help you with many forms of illness and injury as we are all coping and working to recover as best we can. The affirmations and meditations are helpful and supportive.
I wrote many of the poems as a way to help myself originally, but found that when shared, others found benefit and support with them, too. That lead to the completion and birth of this eBook. Now, for me, at least, it is one of my most valuable tools in my life arsenal when I need positive and helpful words of support in the tough times. Details and a link to the book on Amazon are available on MY BOOKSHELF page.
Cheers, and happy healing! Lise
