The Trees Appear To Be Shivering

The trees appear to be shivering,

Which is a strange sight to see,

Our seasons went from Summer to Winter,

And the leaves are still on the trees.

There they shake in the blustery winds,

The leaves vibrating with each gust,

Such a strange phenomenon to view today,

Leaves forced to dance now because they must.

Usually the branches are bare and clean,

And the trees stand naked through Winter winds,

But this year they are all wearing clinging brown leaves,

Dark and sinister as if the trees have sinned.

We missed all the beautiful Fall colourings,

Leaves green, red, orange, and yellow to brown,

We missed their amazing colourful show,

We missed seeing leaves drift and flow to the ground.

This year was a different story,

It was warm so late in the year,

Then the cold temps of Winter jumped in,

Before the leaves had coloured and cleared.

Today Winter winds do gust and blow,

And the leaves on the trees must be bitter,

For snow is on the ground all around their trunks,

And those leaves, well they look like they shiver.
