First Snowfall
The joy of a new snowfall always brings out the inner child in me. A feeling of awe and delight tickles my emotions when I look out the window to the wonder of a world beautifully wrapped in fresh snow.

Although today is not the first snowfall this season I am enjoying the beauty of the fresh fallen snow this morning as I sip my coffee and write. The snow-laden tree photo I am sharing today is an honoured memory to a place where I used to live. The majestic tree outside my home was a very dear friend of mine for many years.
I wanted to share this poem with you today, one that I wrote some years ago when I had my darling puppy daughter and companion... a sweet little creature who, like myself, experienced much joy in a new snowfall. We would bundle up in our winter clothes, (yes, she had all the outfits), and go out for our first walk of the day, excited to be out in the snow.
Here is a share of my little delight in her pink parka! (I sure do miss her...RIP, Topaz.)

And now for my Winter rhyming share for you to enjoy...
First Snowfall
I delight in tiny snowflakes,
That float down from the sky,
I marvel at their beauty,
As each flake floats on by.
They dance as they float,
Catch them if you dare,
Their perfect shapes unique and pretty,
Different, with not a single pair.
The first snow sprinkles of the year,
Delight me as they fall,
And I love my velvet white surroundings,
From inside I hear them call.
"Come outside and play with me,
Let me land on your hair and face,
See my beauty and appreciate me,
As I fall from the sky with grace."
"Walk on the ground where I have fallen,
Make footprints in my build of snow,
Hear the soft velvet swish,
As your steps do plough and go."
"See each breath leave your lips,
As you walk among my dancing flakes,
Enjoy the crisp cool air,
And the surrounding beauty that I create."
So, I delight this morning as I awoke,
To the first snowfall of this year,
I have smiled and taken some pictures,
My excitement is all too clear.
Do you delight in first snowfalls,
In the winter-white beauty the snow creates?
Do you get excited and feel young and playful,
Before the snow once again dissipates?
For me Winter now stands in all its glory,
All dressed in velvety white tones,
Each tree, bush and surface matching,Â
In crisp, clean monotones.
As I sit here having now with my morning coffee,
Snuggled and curled up in my bed,
Though viewing outside my window freezing landscapes,
I feeling cozy and warm instead.
However, soon I will don my warm clothes,
Dress with gloves, scarf and a hat,
Put on boots and then dress my puppy,
Outside we will go then after that.
I will enjoy each flake falling
,Feel the snow touch my face as I walk,
And delight in my excited puppy,
Leaping and bounding in joy and frolic.
It is time now to get out of bed,
To dress and get ready to go outside,
To delight in the wintery landscapes,
Everything dressed in white like a bride.
I will immensely enjoy my walk now,
With tiny puppy by my side,
We will both delight in the dancing snowflakes,
As Nature's beauty here fills me with pride.

Here is a current view of my world this morning on the edge of an orchard, before the sun has come over our spectacular mountainous horizon. (Do you spot the leftover, unpicked frozen apples still clinging to the trees?)

Have a wonderful day, dear readers!
Cheers! Lise
