Sunrise Wore Her Yellow Coat

Sunrise wore her yellow coat,

And Sky waited in grey-blue,

I welcomed them home today,

For they have been missing for some time.

Out my morning windows,

I have been missing Sky in his absence,

His vast, bright-blue presence, a canopy,

My comforting daily hug in a healthy world.

While he was gone,

A yellowy-green, single-hued wrap,

Enveloped us all and everything in my view,

It felt like an unwelcomed isolation.

And Sunrise? Well, she seemed harsh,

Her orange, piercing stare,

The only thing visible as she slowly moved,

Across sky's depressing monochromatic sickness.

But today, Sunrise wears a pale yellow dress,

With soft gauze-like folds that stream over now-visible mountains,

Preparing to start dancing again with Sky,

Once he buffs up his bright-blue suit.

I pray for them to happily dance in reunion,

I pray for their return to bright health and hue,

I pray for them to fully light up my days again,

For I have so missed them during these horrific wildfires...
