Hiding From The World

It has been a while since I last popped into connect, and I apologize. Sometimes life screams for me to take a break and I must answer the call...

Hiding From The World

I've been taking a break,

And hiding from the world,

Spending time at home,

On my deck couch, all curled.

I've not been writing my stories,

My blog or my poems,

Just living each day,

Quite remotely in my home.

Sometimes it just happens,

And you need space for yourself,

And you cut back on some things,

It's a healing thing-in-itself.

You wake up enjoying the sunshine,

Or the summer breezes in your face,

You look around sipping your coffee,

And taking pride in your space.

You appreciate your loved ones,

You connect when you want,

You might contemplate your life quietly,

Or pop out to a restaurant.

Sometimes you might sit with a friend,

Or you might visit with a group,

Or you might just stay at home,

Taking time to recoup.

For me, I have been quietly living,

I've not been writing lately, you see,

But doing other solo, creative endeavours,

That often keep me busy.

And so I ask you, dear readers,

To forgive me for my silence,

For not reaching out with my words,

As I live with my self-reliance.

I will come back soon,

And spend more time with you,

And write more pieces for you to enjoy,

In the quiet times in your room.

I will go back to my work,

I will reach inside and scribe all my words,

And create new stories and poems,

Playing with nouns, adjectives and verbs.

But for this period of time,

Forgive me for taking space,

For I must just spend this time on my own,

Living in quiet contemplation and with grace.
