And Then The Clouds...

Writer's picture: Lise PartonLise Parton

Blessed with the opportunity to welcome each day with the rising sun, sometimes she has to work to dodge a few morning clouds... of course, I am inspired to share my poetic thoughts with you...

And Then The Clouds...

And then the clouds,

Swallowed up the sun,

Even though the day,

Had barely begun.

After I experienced a sunrise,

That was bursting with light,

The sun had risen this morning,

Over the mountains, so bright.

But I could see those dark clouds,

Waiting there just above,

Looming with heaviness,

And darkness, not love.

Hanging in the sky,

Waiting to claim the sun,

To cover the day in darkness,

Before much of it had begun.

Will those clouds give us rain,

Or will that darkness just sit?

Hiding my bright, shiny friend,

Not a ray for her to emit?

I like when she lights up my day,

With a sun-shiny smile,

Warming the world around me,

At least for a while.

But today it might stay dark,

And match the silence out there,

With everything now patiently waiting,

For sun to return and reappear.

To light up our world again,

And make everything happy and bright,

Banishing the darks clouds that are looming,

And remove them from sight.

So I guess I'll just wait, too,

And hope this darkness goes away,

For even I know,

Sun will return to awaken another day.
