Surrounded By Water I am Free

Surrounded by water I am free,

As I propel with ease as I go,

The water is exhilarating upon my skin,

Caressing each cell with the flow...

As I continue to enjoy the beauty and magic of mermaids I am inspired to write some poems for those of you who are mermaid souls.

Surrounded By Water I Am Free

Surrounded by water I am free,

As I propel with ease as I go,

The water is exhilarating upon my skin,

Caressing each cell with the flow.

My mighty tail propels me,

As I cut through the sea with ease,

And I feel my hair pulling back from my face,

Exposing such delights for me to see.

The waving seaweed along the reef,

Is rhythmic like in a dance,

And the brightly coloured corals,

Lay nestled between the plants.

Fish in all shapes and sizes,

Dart back and forth as I move on,

And as my eyes take in all this beauty,

I can feel my heart and soul being drawn.

Drawn to this magnificence,

Under the deep, blue sea,

Drawn to a place,

That so many just can't see.

But as a unique creature,

With very special gifts,

I am able to be here,

By the underwater cliffs.

Able to swim by the sandy shores,

Able to dive into the deep,

Able to surface far, far away,

On the outer side of the reef.

Able to commune with the turtles,

Able to swim with the whales,

Able to keep moving swiftly,

By the power of my mighty tail.

I am a maiden of the sea,

A mermaid, you might have guessed,

And I am grateful for my aquatic powers,

In a world where I feel so blessed.
